My wife was on Yahoo this morning and started reading an article about Kevin Pittsnogle. I asked here where the hell she was reading this and she said, “It’s on the front page of Yahoo, check it out.”
“WHOA!, Holy Shit!” is all I could muster when I saw this:
Apparently someone at Yahoo was asking the same question Couchburner and I were just discussing a couple weeks ago. What ever happened to Pittsnogle? As I read on I saw that this question was bigger than Yahoo.
The New York Times made the trip to WV to find out what ever happened to one of the most exciting college basketball players of our generation.
I have conflicting feelings about these two articles. Part of me is happy to find out where he is in his life. The other part is just sad to see where he ended up. I’m sure he’s happy and thats the most important thing, but man wouldn’t it be fun to watch him throw up some 3′s at the Boston Garden!
Now, at 24, he is a middle school teacher in his hometown. He is also an unpaid assistant coach for a high school basketball team. He bowls in leagues three nights a week and occasionally plays bingo at Big Bucks Bingo. His wife, Heather, is a bank teller. They have two children and live in a double-wide trailer, and together they wonder how much appetite they have for uprooting their lives again so Pittsnogle can have one more chance at a basketball career.
Pittsnogle, we miss you! Go Pro!
