WVU women plays DePaul on Pack the House Day

If this doesn’t convince Mountaineer fans to go see the 11th-ranked West Virginia Mountaineer women’s team that nothing else will. There are so many promotions to take advantage of.

Pack The House Day Promos:

  1. To raise awareness for breast cancer the Mountaineers will participate in the “Think Pink” campaign. Wear pink and show your support for the team and show your support for the ongoing battle against cancer.
  2. Get In FREE! If you got Friday’s Dominion Post then you can present a voucher they provided to get in free.
  3. Get In for a Buck! If you didn’t get the Dom Post voucher you can still stop by a Morgantown area Dairy Mart and get a blue voucher that will get you in for one dollar.
  4. Dollar Days at the Concession Stands! This is the best part - you can get any Coke product, hot dog, and popcorn for ONE DOLLAR! I’ll be loading up on that as soon as the gates open.

The attendance record for a women’s game held in the state of West By God Virginia is 10,677. That was on November 21st 2007 at the Charleston Civic Center. The opponent? Top-ranked Tennessee Volunteers led by legendary coach Pat Summitt. The Coliseum record for a women’s game was 8,268 back on March 22nd, 1992. The women played Clemson with the winner heading to the Sweet 16. The game had a great finish as the women squeaked by the Tigers 73-72. Now DePaul is no Tennessee but if the Mountaineers are not careful they may sneak out the Coliseum with a shocking W.

DePaul features a solid guard by the name of Allie Quigley. The 5-11 net torcher averages 18.9 a game. She scored 36 recently against South Florida. Another player to keep a solid watch is Natasha Williams. She averages 11.5 points while leading the team with 7.5 rebounds a game. She has a solid field goal percentage of 59 percent. As a team they have an excellent rebounding margin of 5.2. While they are not ranked a solid team knows how to win on the road. They are 6-2 when playing on their opponents floor. They’ve struggled at home with a 3-3 conference record leading them to a .500 overall record in conference.

What else do you have to do on Saturday? The tipoff is at 2pm but get there as early as you can for good seats and show your support for the women’s basketball team. Also, show your support in the hard-fought battle against breast cancer. Have yourself a good time with cheap food. Good luck women and GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS!
