The game was scoreless after the first minute. A few missed shots and a couple of Meg Bulger fouls later they were down 13 – 0 with 15 minutes remaining in the first half and that was all she wrote. The WVU women’s basketball team got their arses handed to against the Number 1 ranked UCONN Huskies by the final score of 84-48. Oh well, at least UCONN’s average scoring margin takes a fall to about 42 points a game.
This loss tells me one of two things. Either UCONN is very, very good or the WVU women’s team are very, very bad. Since the Mountaineers are ranked I’ll say that UCONN is pretty damn good and should run away the season undefeated. To tell you briefly about the stats West Virginia shot a horrid 31% while UCONN shot a blistering 53% along with 10 of 18 for 3. Yinka Sanni led the team with 12 points while UCONN’s freshman phenom Maya Moore scored 25 pts on 9 of 17 shooting.
Let’s put that game behind us. I look forward to Coach Huggs invading Louisville and stealing a W from them tomorrow night. The WVU women’s team will play nationally ranked Notre Dame at high noon on Sunday right before the men’s game with the ‘Cuse. Come support the women’s team Sunday it will be well worth it.
