WVU men fails to crack the Top 25

Despite Coach Huggs’s signature win against then 10th-ranked Marquette the West Virginia men’s basketball team failed to reach the Top 25 this week in both the AP and Coaches poll.  They rank 30th this week in Coaches while 29th in the AP poll. If there’s any consolation for yesterday’s victory over the Golden Eagles they have catipulted their RPI ranking to 31st.

The tough Big East slate will continue as they go to Louisville this Thursday night and then play the ‘Cuse Sunday afternoon at the Coliseum. A win over Syracuse would greatly improve the RPI rating even more.  With the students coming back this weekend that would be a huge plus to rally the Eers.

Now the ladies. The WVU women’s basketball team gained a spot in the AP poll. They’re now ranked 16th and will have a tall task of facing the unanimous Number 1 rated UCONN Huskies at Storrs, Conn. Wednesday night. Good luck to both teams this week and GOOOOOOOOOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS!
