What the hell is a Sooner anyway?

I’ll admit it, I don’t really know much about Oklahoma football or their fans. So I decided to find out.
I thought the best way to get the truth about the Sooners was to go straight to the most reliable source, an Oklahoma Sooner fan site. I contacted the guys over at one of the best (I’m sure they would say THE best) Oklahoma sports blogs I could find, The Sooner Schooner, and asked if they would like to engage in a little friendly “How Do Ya Do” back and forth.
They agreed and said they would like to know more about WVU. So we’ve been in contact and will have a series of questions and answers sessions throughout the college bowl season leading up to the true National Championship Game, or as they are calling it, the Fiesta Bowl.
We, as WVU fans, need to know as much about OU before this game so that we can talk shit properly. No one likes an uninformed smack talker.
So look for the series to start on Thursday or Friday of this week and continue until the big game.

I love West Virginia. It has sent great lawmakers to Congress–Byrd, Rahall and many, many more. The state is a joy to visit. The common folks are delightful. I met Dr. Richard Iammarino of the UWV faculty and found his wife and him to be one of the most delightfully, enlightened folks that one could imagine. What intellect! Such intelligence! What a glorious couple to reflect the fine qualities of West Virginia and its fine university.
As for the University of Oklahoma football team, the coaches and teams through the years have been largely talented, dedicated and fair sportsmen. Years ago, as a UPI writer, I covered the games. They were excellent displays of champions. The current team meets those standards.
As for the academics of the University of Oklahoma, they are excellent and rising. Dr. David Boren, a Rhodes scholar himself, has inspired greatness.
As for the Fiesta Bowl, I hope that it begats a new bond between Oklahoma and West Virginia that is filled with friendship and mutual understanding of two great states that are largely overlooked. I have a preference about the team that I hope wins, but that is small stuff compared with other possibilities.

Joseph, thanks for the comment and checking out our site. Of course I’m hoping your winner “preference” lands on our side, but like you said, in the scheme of things it’s the small stuff.
I agree that WVU and OU could both benefit from a great match-up on Jan. 2 and I too hope that this is the beginning of a relationship between the two schools that goes far beyond sports. Enjoy the game!

Joesph is a shit dick and should die. Stop trying to be Mr. Politics on a message borad and thinking your cool by using your middle initial. You’re fuckstain that should mine coal. OU will rape WVU in the bowl game. We don’t want to form a “new bond”. are you gay?

Please, please, please! Don’t judge all Sooner fans by the above response.
This will be a great game and I believe the best match-up of the BCS games.

i agree… i think if there are any 2 football teams that have more in common, it’s WVU and OU. The winner is #1 in the nation. There is no way the winner of OSU and LSU is better than the winner of WVU and OU.
