Youngstown, Ohio, running back Braylon Heard told the West Virginia coaching staff on Tuesday that he plans to be a part of the 2010 football recruiting class.
A four-star prospect according to Rivals.com, Heard had scholarship offers from Pitt, Penn State, North Carolina State, Michigan State and Nebraska, among others.
Trevor Demko, a 6-foot-6 defensive end from Mount Carmel Area (Pa.) High School, has told West Virginia University’s football coaching staff he will be a part of the Mountaineers’ 2010 recruiting class.
Maryland-West Virginia just feels like a rivalry. It feels hot. Maybe it’s because West Virginia has been more successful than Virginia in football and poses a big challenge. I think it’s because both schools’ fans get amped up for each other. It doesn’t hurt that former standout tailback Steve Slaton vowed revenge for the Mountaineers after being rebuffed by Maryland, his original school of choice.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Few schools in the country have a football program as rich in history and success as West Virginia University, and no other book captures that history quite like the West Virginia University Football Vault®: The History of the Mountaineers. As much a scrapbook as it is a history book, opening the Vault is like getting a guided tour through your own personal WVU football museum.
BWAHAHAHAHAHA Suck it PITT!
Another Pittsburgh wide receiver is in trouble.
Sophomore Jonathan Baldwin was charged with misdemeanor indecent assault, summary harrassment and summary disorderly conduct stemming from an alleged incident involving a female student on a bus, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported on Sunday.

Way Too Early Projection: Ole Miss vs. West Virginia
Assuming the SEC champion is No. 1 and off to the national championship, the Sugar Bowl will get the first choice of teams and it’ll most certainly take the second best SEC team. Ole Miss, Alabama, LSU, Georgia or even Florida; throw a dart and you might have the right SEC representative. Boise State might be the call if the Fiesta doesn’t have an interest, but geographically is makes more sense for the Broncos to go to Glendale and the Big East champion, possibly West Virginia, to go to New Orleans. The Mountaineers stunned Georgia the last time they were in the Sugar, played in Atlanta in 2006.
When ESPN bracketology expert Joe Linardi released his brackets for the upcoming 2010 NCAA March Madness tournament, West Virginia was selected by the analyst as one of the four No. 2 seeds-to the surprise of many.
IF there’s a national lack of respect for Big East Conference football — and there isn’t much “if” about it — the 2009 NFL Draft at least should have been a head-turner for the league.
West Virginia University strong side linebacker Mortty Ivy signed on as a free agent to play for the Carolina Panthers.
“I’m very excited,” said Lankster. “My expectation was getting a chance to play for an NFL team. The Buffalo Bills have given me a great opportunity.”
this would suck so bad…. I would be forced to pull for the Patriots!
“The New England Patriots have been checking in on a number of versatile Draft prospects. Few have the position flexibility and playmaking ability of West Virgina’s Pat White.” (insider article)
#8. West Virginia
Love him or hate him, you’ve got to acknowledge that Bob Huggins is good at what he does. With every stop comes an increased win total and an influx of talent. John Belein already laid the foundation at West Virginia, so the win totals were already up there.
White was an exciting quarterback but the college recruiters envisioned something different – a wide receiver, a cornerback, a tailback. He wound up committing to LSU to catch passes.
Only one major school had always seen him as a QB – West Virginia.
If the NFL handed out superlatives for the draft class of 2009, the most intriguing prospect, the one that 31 teams are some day likely to wish they had spent a little more time getting to know, would be West Virginia’s Pat White.
With your eyes closed, and with heels tapping, see in your mind’s eye the intriguing possibility of West Virginia’s Pat White in a Panthers uniform.
It’s “just” a clean break of the left fibula.
Jarrett Brown completed 21 of 28 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Gold team to a 35-7 victory over the Blue Saturday afternoon in West Virginia’s Gold-Blue Spring Game at Milan Puskar Stadium.

Unlike recent spring scrimmages, today’s work was done under game conditions with the No. 1s facing the No. 2s on both sides of the ball.
Coach Stewart has posted “Mountaineer Rules for Living” and Rule #1 is:
‘life is not fair – get used to it.’
here is the excerpt from the article about Brown:
Brown must fill some seriously big shoes this season as he takes over for Pat White, the most prolific running quarterback in Division I-A history. Brown may not possess White’s elusiveness, but the senior-to-be is bigger (6-foot-4, 221 pounds) and has gained plenty of experience as a backup, throwing for 839 yards and five TDs and running for 671 yards and seven scores in 25 games. He’ll need to solidify himself as the same double-threat as White to take the pressure off speedy tailback Noel Devine.
I saw this the other day. Pat White is truly a great role model for WV fans. Love the new site design. Keep up the good work!
