The coaches have finally gotten it right and put WVU at #3. Only USC and LSU are above us. Oh my how the pressure builds.

If this was pre Coach Rod era, I would say with no doubt we would choke in the opening game, lose to Western Michigan, and then get knocked out of the top 10 or 15.

NOT NOW.

I feel totally confident in these awesome preseason rankings this year. I have no butterflies, no “holy shit we got one over on them this year” feeling like I’ve had in the past. This is the real deal, and I can’t wait to watch as WVU football moves into the spotlight as a major national football program.

Press, press and more press. The sport writers just can’t get enough of us this year.

On the cover of the August 20, 2007 issue, S.I. has Steve Slaton busting out of the front cover. He has the eye of the tiger, he’s all business and he’s ready to run all the way to New Orleans.

Along with this sweet ass cover, S.I. has WVU ranked #4 below USC, LSU and Florida. Not too shabby if you ask me. They also have our latest rivals, Louisville, one spot behind us at #5. The Big East is back with a vengence and the conference sure has proven itself worthy of that automatic BCS bid.

Everyone should go out and pick up a copy of this issue of S.I. because according to my grandma “it’s going to be worth something someday”.

Today, the WVU ticket office released single game tickets for the general public. Unfortunately, there were a very limited number of tickets and they were only available for two games: ECU and UCONN. This was expected to a certain degree. Hell, I was even surprised they had these. Never in my wildest dreams did I think they would sell this fast… for these teams… and for the new “nationally ranked” face value price.

With all of the rankings finally coming out and getting some attention, Rivals.com is jumping on the WVU bandwagon placing us at #2 just under the highly overrated USC Trojans.
