My Top 10
By John Wilson on Oct 8, 2007 in News, Rankings/BCS/Polls, Rantings
I love the “do your own rankings” widget on ESPN.com. It’s a nice way to get move things around, look at various match ups, compare records, etc. After a crazy couple of weeks and a heartbreaking loss by the Mountaineers (they would be ranked 3rd by now, maybe even second), I have come up with the following rankings:
- LSU - I don’t think there is anyone (worth their salt) that would dispute this. They still have a long way to go in the minefield that is the SEC.
- California - The Big East is showing their hind quarters, so there isn’t much choice but placing these guys second. What? Should I have put BC or Hawaii here?
- Oklahoma - When I’m not sure between two teams I match them up… would OK beat BC? Yep, 9 out of 10 times.
- Boston College - A nod for being undefeated. Not a nod with a “what’s up” or even a “good morning.” Just a nod.
- South Florida - It pains me to say it, but my hands are tied. My prediction is they will lose at least 3 games, so I’m not worried about these guys.
- WVU - Sigh. They still have powerhouses all over the field. But there has to be that one game every year when they just don’t show up. Look for them to win out and pray that USF chokes (they will).
- Oregon - Wish I had a good reason for this one, other than following along with the pollsters.
- South Carolina - For now. As a new found fan of the Game Cocks, it pains me to say it but …”look for them to fall hard in the next few weeks.” I hope they don’t, but they will.
- USC - OVERRATED
- Ohio State - I hate these guys. It hurts to even put them at 10, but I’m out of options. I think they play Mary Madeline’s School of the Blind this weekend. They are Division III (which is weird cause OSU usually plays in the MAC). Ohio State 24 - School of the Blind 17.
A nod to TV Tebow. I hate to see you go. I was enjoying ESPN drooling all over your jock every third news story.

I’m pretty much agreeing with this 10. Which really makes me excited because when I look at the list the only team I think WVU wouldn’t just KILL is LSU with their “D”.
Now I know you’ll all say well what about USF.. let us play them again, PLEEEZE.
We should be #2 right now but like you said, we caught a cold a couple weeks ago, and it seems it’s contagious… wonder who will flub up next.

I am quite proud thus far. Mangino beat down those shitty teams and now got a big win on the road against rival Kansas State. I think they suck too, but they did whoop Texas two weeks ago, but Texas probably isn’t too great either. Anyhoot go Kansas! Ya’ll only have one decent win on the road against Maryland while blowing everyone else out. The same as my beloved Jayhawks. See ya in the Gator Bowl!
Also ya’ll droul over Big East way too much. Too much homer love talk. Is this blog just to unrealistically talk up Big East teams, primarily WVU??? What’s the point of the blog if ya’ll just man love your own team and conference w/o offering any type of constructive, honest debating of college football. Ohio State #10? silly, now who knows what they’ll finish, but they’ve blown out everyone they’ve played and have 2 decent wins on the road dominating Washington and Purdue. Gotta rank them top 5 right now, till they lose.
And no way USF loses 3 games. If they do, bad for you since WVU lost to them. So not quite sure why your thinking their gonna lose 3 games.
Lastly, LMB!
Love, Black Beatty

Um.. yeah… this is a blog about WVU and the Mountaineers, maybe that’s why it’s a slightly slanted opinion.
Gator Bowl? I’d rather go to the Gator Bowl than the two toilet bowls Kansass is slated for now.. Insight Bowl or the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl.. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
and College Football New and CBSSportsline have WVU going to the SugarBowl right now. See ya in Miami.

Black Beatty when you stop getting tea-bagged by Mangino maybe you’ll come to your senses.

Hmmm, come to my senses? what are you referring too?
ps… As long as Mangino continues to put up W’s I’ll tea-bag all he wants.

My Top 10 Rankings:
1. LSU - beat florida…nuff said. although each week their defense is looking less dominant.
2. California - quality win against Oregon…only time will tell if they belong.
3. Ohio State - boring Big 10 offense with a killer defense. not sure if they can keep up with high powered spread offenses.
4. South Florida - they just keep winning. i hope they lose to Louisville.
5. Boston College - Matt Ryan is a stud, but they play in the weak ACC and have looked average against some wimpy teams.
6. WVU - top 15 defense with a top 5 offense. look out, here we come.
7. Missouri - they only real team playing in the Big 12 north. we’ll see if they’re worthy this weekend.
8. Oregon - gave Cal a scare, but QB is banged up. They should put another nail in the Trojans’ coffin.
9. Oklahoma - still not sold on these fools.
10. Three way tie between Cincinnatti, Illinois, and Florida.
