Musket Reload: Bball Rumors and Happenings

Here’s some info I heard through the WVU BBall Grapevine

1. Bradley Starks joins the basketball team

Bradley StarksWhile the hot rumor nowadays is the fact that Bradley Starks has joined to the basketball team there hasn’t been an official confirmation yet. He is not listed on the roster and we haven’t heard yet from Coach Huggs if it’s true. He would be a nice addition since he was a star player in the state of Virginia.

At a rail-thin 6-4 190 the four-star recruit averaged 23 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.5 assists and three steals per game in his senior season. He was chosen by the state coaches as Group AA co-player of the year. Starks was sought after by Virginia, North Carolina State, and Virginia Commonwealth. So if his football career here doesn’t pan out he’d be a welcome addition for the next three seasons under Coach Huggs.

2. Ater Majok

Ater MajokGood information nowadays are easy to find on various message boards for free. Who needs to pay our hard-earned money for just one little paragraph that we’ll find out eventually. In this case I find out on a UCLA message board that the Sudan swatter has trimmed his choices which naturally includes us.

The other schools in contention are UCONN, UCLA, and Kansas. UCONN seems to be going after him the hardest but never count out Coach Huggs out since he always brings in a killer recruiting class year after year.

3. Uniforms

The new uniforms are scheduled to arrive any day now with the plan to wear them in the Big East Tournament. As far as the fourth uniform is concerned Nike is still in the process of creating a black uniform with gold and blue stripes. One can only imagine what they would look like. That is not schedule to arrive until November.

4. New basketball scoreboard

It’s a given that Mountaineer fans will see a new improved scoreboard next season. It’s about time they’re getting rid of that ancient hunk of junk that we’ve been forced to see since the 1995-96 season. Word on the street is that the new one would be similar to the one seen at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. That’s terrific we are finally seeing some quality state-of-the-art heading our way. Sure hope The Coliseum roof can hold all that.

Finally,

5. Meg Bulger

Meg BulgerThere is no new word yet on the status of Meg Bulger’s ailing left knee. They certainly are in no need to rush her back on the court considering their guards have step their game up. In particular, senior LaQuita Owens has scored at least 20 points in each of the last three games in place of Bulger. To say she may be out for the season is a little premature and her status continues to be day-to-day. We certainly hope for the best and respect any decision regarding this matter.

Well that’s all the information I’ve gathered but as always there’s lot of good things developing for the WVU basketball program. We at www.wvmountaineersports.com would like to be the destination for everything basketball and we won’t stop.
