JWilson Power Rankings - Week 7

I have created a Power Ranking system that takes the following objective indicators in to account: current BCS ranking (I’m only doing the math for the top 16 teams…that is your buy in to the tournament), strength of schedule and record and attempted to piece together what a 16 team tournament may look like. Here are the standings at the end of week 7.

Power Ranking Team Points BCS Rank
1 South Florida 13.17 2
2 Ohio State 12.86 1
3 Boston College 12.57 3
4 Kansas 12.00 13
5 Arizona State 11.86 8
6 Kentucky 11.57 7
7 LSU 11.43 4
8 Oregon 11.00 10
9 Oklahoma 10.86 5
10 South Carolina 10.71 6
11 Virginia Tech 10.71 11
12 California 10.50 12
13 West Virginia 10.33 9
14 USC 10.17 14
15 Missouri 9.00 16
16 Florida 8.33 15

When I get Excel reinstalled on my home computer, the formula may become more complex, but I think this is a good start to the First Annual wvmountaineersports.com Division I Playoffs.

You might want to double check your math…Kansas at #4? Did Mangino eat your calculator or is Black Beatty giving your personal favors.

It’s 100% objective. I was considering adding some sort of conference multiplier, but that gets very subjective.

Trust me, I hated seeing them up there almost as much as I hated seeing the *@$#eyes in the top 10.

So if I’m reading this correctly…1 plays 16, 2 plays 15, and so on…so if the season ended today (which it doesn’t, but for some reason we like to use that phrase) #13 WVU plays #4 Kansas…Oh Black Beatty gots to be excited about that one.

oh pleeze pleeze pleeeeeze let us play Kansas in a BCS bowl. That would be the cupcake game of the BCS.

So what are the chances Kansas goes undefeated in the regular season?

Check out this joker. He must be getting tag-teamed by Les Miles and Kirk Herbstreit.

Chances of going undefeated are pretty good…here’s their remaining schedule…look who’s missing…

    @ Colorado
    @ Texas A&M
    Nebraska
    @ Oklahoma St
    Iowa St
    Missouri

No Oklahoma, Texas or Texas Tech and their toughest game is Missouri at home.

The MSNBC guy should be fired. That is the worst article I’ve read all year. How can he ignore the fact that Ohio State hasn’t played anyone? And that USC’s wins aren’t winning games themselves. Also, why should Florida get to play anyone on a neutral field? Maybe Notre Dame could win if they played everyone at Parkersburg High School’s Stadium Field.

I need to apply to the Sporting News I guess.

If he’s going to downgrade USF’s wins over Auburn and WVU, then he should do the same for OSU…their only quality win was against Washington…and according to all the so-called “experts,” playing at Washington is a cake walk compared to playing on the home field of an SEC team…again if you ask the “experts.”

we all know that fags that went to OSU will always think they deserve to be #1 just like Notre Dame butt munches. If you can check out the video in the forums i posted.. it’s fucking funny, I just hope someone makes one of OSU soon. Especially when they end the season at 9-3.

I hope Auburn WVU and USF all win out, then there will be no question on who should be #1. Although today on Rivals Radio they were saying that they could see a LSU or USC with one loss getting the nod to the Big Game over USF if this all plays out in the “predictable” way. Which it won’t because this season is crazy wacky funky.

Gee 3 Mounties all supporting one another. How nice, ya’ll meeting up for a rub and tug this Saturday under the bleachers?

    Fire the MSNBC writer!?!?
Also can ya’ll whine anymore about this so called WVU disrespect? 2 seasons ago WVU beat Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, yippy! Claim to fame. Give it a rest already.

You don’t see me whining about Kansas not getting respect in the polls. Undefeated! Granted our schedule thus far has been pretty weak, but we’ve blown everyone out. I’ll let the season play out and hopefully Kansas wins wins wins all the way to the B12 championship game against Oklahoma!

    Anyhoot BCS blows.

Hey y’all… what’s with all this Big Televen bashing?? It makes us look bad.. like bitter, jealous fans wishing we had the history, tradition, and fanbase that those schools have. I think we should stop with all negative references to the Big 10, it just feeds their egos. Let’s focus on getting our little conference up and out of the shadow of the bigger conferences by winning some games, not bashing other conferences. GO ‘NEERS!!!

    Imposter!!!! Its GO ‘EERS.

    WarBird = Big Ten Tool
    Your right Couch, IMPOSTER!

Mainly because WVU does have the history, has a rich tradition, and a more loyal fanbase than any Big 10 team.

Example: It only took two weeks for Black Beatty to turn on Penn State and switch over to Kansas.

    Poor MountieBob,

Your latest comment is ridiculous. I’m not here to side with the Big10, but you sure do make some stupid comments. Fans like you make it difficult to like and respect WVU.

Also Black Beatty was rooting for UCLA the first week of the season. Not Penn State.
Kansas has been my team since. Mangino and the Jayhawks are awesome.

    Lastly, LMB!

i want fans of Kansas and UCLA.. hold on.. BWAHAHAHAHAHAAH… ok sorry… to not like and respect WVU… cause then we’ll just come in and SYA!
