Jeff Mullen announced WVU Offensive Coordinator

Breaking News: Jeff Mullen from Wake Forest has just been announced WVU’s new Offensive Coordinator.
Here is the report from yesterday speculating the move.
Of course this news is no where on the web because “you know what” is dominating the headlines. Personally I think this is bigger news than any of that crap.
We welcome Jeff to the great lineup of assistant coaches that my man Bill Stewart has put together. I think Jeff and Bill’s version of the spread offense is going to blow away anything ** ever put together. Now we will have a leathal backfield as well as a sweet passing game.

If this is true…I have a little concern about his lack of experience as an OC. I have not read anything about him that would lead me to believe he can be a good OC. All info out there about him leads me to believe that he is a very good QB Coach. Is that enough to qualify him as a D-1 OC?

I see your point but what HC experience did Rich Rod have before coming to Motown? Nothing is going to make us feel good about any of this until the team takes the field and steals the spot light off the coaches. I trust Bill Stewart, I have too. Jim Grobe did a great job at Wake and Jeff was watching and learning every day, I think he’ll be ready.
I don’t wear a Bill Stewart jersey, I wear a Pat White Jersey. Lets just sit back, relax, and enjoy going 13-0 next season. And in the mean time watch Huggs take WVU to the big show!

Hey MountaineerBob I agree completely and even though coach Stew was not our first choice, I think he is doing a great job and he has my support along with all the other coaches, players, and new recruits who decide to become mountaineers.

So you are telling me that Jim Grobe will be at WVU as well…. MountaineerBob pleae clarify for me.. Im excited about this next season. Rod is not a good on field coach.. Good recruiter, but that’s cause he is also good at BS and lying. have fun with that Michigan. Bring in the good ol boys. Lets go Mountaineers!

Ryan,
It is my understanding that Jeff Mullen will be the next OC and QB coach not Jim Grobe. My point was that Jim worked with Jeff and I think Jeff will bring a lot of new ideas to the position about the spread offense. Thing RR’s spread morphed with Jim Grobes…you get Jeff Mullen and Coach Stew… taking the spread to a next level.. and finally passing the ball!

Hey Deac, thanks for the Bio on Jeff.I’m glad he is a class act.He will be a refreshing change to what we have had in the past.I hope you can hold on to Jim Grobe. I see his name popping up on almost every job opening.I’ve been to Wake when my niece went there. Great atmosphere. I can see why he turned Michigan down to stay there. He is everything you could want as a coach.

MountaineerBob,
Thanks for that, and i believe that you are correct about the coach stew and Jeff idea… i think that we need to pass the ball and I believe that coach stew is one to do that. I believe that he has always wanted to but of course RR (senor douche) would not let that happen. I am excited about this next season, and I become more and more excited when i hear more and more about the stories and who is coming to WVU… Everyone says that this will be a down year with recruiting, the season itself, and with the attendance. But me, I believe that 1st; we never have good recruiting… well according to the star system.. which is BS… Pat white I believe was a 3 star/ now heisman candidate!… and Steve Slaton was a 3 as well if not mistaken, and do I even have to mention Own Schmitt… 0 star MAYBE… but the best dang FB I have ever seen. I actually have shirts made up that the front says “Owen Schmitt, running over people at WVU since 2005″ on the back ” You’ve just been Schmitt on!” :)…. 2nd; with all these coaches coming in bringing with them ideas from great school and teams and great personalities and a lot of WVU Alum’s or WV natives, with great skills in their respective positions. Great things are to come this year. And last but not least the fans…. Well, hell I think that this will be our best year yet ladies and gentlemen… I have seen so many posts about filling up the stadium for the Spring game and all of these people excited that RR is gone and it is time for a new era, and time to support our team that we will be in full force… so once again I say: Bring on them good ol Boys and lets go Mountaineers!

Im excited bout this team, if u look at the way our team is built we only had 16 seniors and we are heavily loaded with freshmans and sophmores. plus we now get to see more of jock sanders and brandon hogan. Lets not forget we still got reed williams coming back plus new guys like chris neild and julian miller who i hear are awesome. keilen dykes even said neild might be even better than him or dingle.

in terms of coaching stew said he is keeping the spread offense rolling plus we got coach steel still running the defense….from what ive read it seems that coach mullen is well aware of the spread offense and will continue with it and throw in short passes to keep defense guessing.
