It’s Officially Football Season AGAIN; Benji Kemoeatu Finally Signs!

Some good recruiting news came in this morning as Coach Stew locked in 2 guys that will add some depth to the roster. Benji Kemoeatu (OC) and Mark Rodgers (RB). So, since signing day when WVU had 23 commits, Stew and the boys have added 3 more top notch recruits (including running back Zach Hulse)…. Good job!
Yes, that’s right, Benji Kemoeatu finally signed yesterday. He has was being courted by WVU for a while and gave a soft verbal commitment around signing day. There was, however, some speculation (by some people on commenting on this site) that Benji was going to UTAH. Well he’s not so suck it Utah! He’s going to be close to his brothers here in WV. Great choice Benji, you’ll love it here.
A little Benji Bio:
- Kemoeatu is a 6-3, 315-pound standout from Kahuku High in Kahuku, Hawaii.
- Two brothers, Maake Kemoeatu (Carolina Panthers) and Chris Kemoeatu (Pittsburgh Steelers), both player in the NFL.
- He’s four-star football recruit, played both guard and center at Kahuku High School.
- He was a two-time first-team all-state selection and was a two-time OIA East first-team honoree.
- He was rated as the No. 2 football prospect in the state of Hawaii among all players and among the Top 12 nationally among offensive guards.
- He helped lead the Red Raiders to Hawaii state championships in 2005 and 2006.
- Coach Stew says, “Benji is the biggest big man on the island of Hawaii. He is extremely strong and physical and will be a great addition to our offensive line. He brings a toughness that we are looking for with our lineman.”
