Is Auburn being proactice or reactive??

Auburn just up and fired their Offensive Coordinator Tony Franklin today. When your offense is ranked 104th I guess it’s time to make a change. I give AU credit for having the ballz to just do what they need to make a change in their offense (or defense) when things aren’t working. Maybe WVU should take some notes from Tubs?

Head coach Tommy Tuberville said Wednesday he’s not satisfied with progress being made on offense and felt it was best to make a change. He said he will take a larger role in working with the offense the rest of the season. (ESPN)

So I pose these questions. Is AU being proactive or reactive?… and should WVU do the same with some of it’s sideline when the shit hits the fan? Do we have a front office with the ballz to do it? I hope we never have to find out.

No doubt Auburn screwed up in trying to install a Spread offense without the proper personnel. They would’ve beat Vandy by at least 3 Touchdowns had they stuck with their guns after the 1st quarter (the first 3 possessions reached inside the Red Zone) but instead they messed around and were ultimately defeated. Brandon Tate and Brad Lester are extremely talented RBs whose ball control I-formation play will give WVU trouble throughout. They made the correct proactive decision to let Franklin go.

Now to answer the other two questions. We will NOT put a 50 spot on Suckacuse this Saturday. The play clock situation (silmilar to the NFL) has limited the number of possessions thus limiting the number of plays. Compound the fact that Mullen’s O is working out the kinks and you see why the O has suffered after the Villanova game. Firing Mullen will define a knee-jerk reaction and would will create more problems. Rod ain’t coming back. Even Michigan’s offensive output is considerably lower then our offenses of the past with the highest output this season being 27 against Wisconsin (with 1 TD being a defensive score). Give this O a chance to recover while the D is playing solid football despite the loss Reed “the Diesel” Williams.
Face it, somebody in Eddie P’s Gool ‘Ol Boy Mountaineer Network will replace the retiring AD within a couple years. To me none of this matter if we just keep on winning. JUST WIN BABY!!!!!

I fully agree with you, i think the next weeks will be huge, the offense can work out its kinks against Syracuse and work on it even harder the week before auburn. With the Reed situation, i saw him in the work out room on saturday not in pads and knew at that moment he was gonna medical redshirt, but think how scary are d next season will be, with the guys playing well now and gaining experience imagine what they’ll be like a year older and with a healthy Reed Williams

I guess I’m talking about firing someone on a higher level if the shit hit the fans. I think our assistant coaches are doing a fine job, it’s the leadership that’s lacking and will WVU have the ballz in the front office to do what needs to be done before we’re stuck playing the Car Bowl year after year??? Hope it doesn’t get to that.

MBob it’s very doubtful the front office will make any moves if we end up in such prestigious bowls as the International, Papa John’s, or even the Texas Bowl. It’s gonna depend on an excellent recruiting class coming this fall. We’ve heard that Boyd and Heastie are the real deal and with next year potentially having one of the top Ds in the nation Coach Stew, with his eyes closed, could churn such more BCS bowl appearances. With the Tidewater Express coming in droves sooner or later Mullen will step aside with Beatty taking over the reigns. That’s how I see it play out. Besides, when was the last time a WVU coach was fired while Eddie P took charge? Ezactly

better hope Beatty doesn’t jump ship elsewhere & take his recruits with him. still too early to tell. the season could swing either way still.

I think Boyd is looking to statr right away and with Brown having the starting job pinned down next year probably concerns Boyd

After Jarrett Brown’s unusually awful performance (with the conservative play calling who could do better? and don’t say Pat White his passing stats are just the same this season against D1 competition.) I feel it’s to Boyd’s advantage to come to WVU. Don’t stray away Tajh we need you here! You too Heastie!
