Get out the chips, we’re going to the FIESTA BOWL!!!!!

The BCS selection show was just on (how agonizingly boring) and after listening to 20 stupid teasers for a half hour here is how it all flushed out:

2008 Rose Bowl

Pasadena, Calif., Jan. 1, 2008, 4:30 p.m., ABC HD

(13)Illinois

vs

(7)USC

2008 Sugar Bowl

New Orleans
Jan. 1, 2008, 8:30 p.m. FOX

(10)Hawaii

vs

(5)Georgia

2008 Fiesta Bowl

Glendale, Ariz., Jan. 2, 2008, 8 p.m., FOX

(4)Oklahoma

vs

(9)WVU

2008 Orange Bowl

Miami, Jan. 3, 2008, 8 p.m., FOX

(3)Virginia Tech

vs

(8)Kansas

The Big Show

Jan. 7, 2008, 8 p.m., FOX

(1)Ohio State

vs

(2)LSU

I think WVU’s match-up against Oklahoma will turn out to be the best of all the BCS Bowl games. I was worried we were going to have to play Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl, not because I’m afraid of that Crap-Ass ACC team but because it would be a boring blow out by us. I want to see WVU play a team that will challenge them and after a victory will really put us in a good place in the final rankings.

The Fiesta Bowl is where it’s at. See ya there!

Illinois doesn’t deserve to be there simply because the Rose Bowl wants a traditional Pac-10/Big 10 match-up.

Hawaii/UGA may be a blowout or a close game either way.

Oklahoma/WVU is the best BCS bowl this season so long as P.White doesn’t get injured.

Sadly, VT will pound the undeserving Jayhawks and could finish as high as No. 2, just behind LSU who whooped them 48-7.

OSU’s out of conference games included Youngstown State, Akron, Washington, Northwestern and Kent State. Ouch. The best team they played was Illinois and they lost to them at home. No conference championship game either. All of that being said and the Buckeyes are ranked No. 1 yet again. LSU will pound them like Fla. did last season. That is of course if the curse of No. 2 doesn’t strike again.

Here is a great article about how, other than the Fiesta Bowl, the BCS bowl games are a big disappointment.

    http://cfn.scout.com/2/707647.html

    Here is an excerpt:
Outrage No. 4: Only one of the four non-championship BCS bowls is attractive. The Fiesta Bowl, matching West Virginia and Oklahoma, is a truly sensational intersectional matchup, the kind of collision that is far too infrequent during the non-conference portion of each regular season. But other than that, the BCS bowls don’t really sing. Virginia Tech and Kansas are solid teams, but there’s a sense that that matchup is a battle of similar squads. There’s no contrast to the matchup, and it’s a sense of contrast that gives a game its flavor and excitement. The Sugar Bowl, with Georgia and Hawaii, offers that contrast, but with the game being in New Orleans and not Glendale or Pasadena, the Dawgs figure to have an overwhelming crowd advantage. That takes away from the intrigue of that game. Put this contest in the Western U.S., and it would have sizzled a lot more. USC versus Illinois is a mismatch that has to be leaving millions of college football fans in a state of deep disappointment. USC-Georgia would have been off-the-charts awesome; USC-West Virginia would have been fascinating. Even USC-Kansas would have provided a certain curiosity factor. But Illinois?

I am happy for Illinois and think they will win the Big 10 next year, but I really feel Missouri got the short end of the stick. Went from No. 1 to no BCS bowl at all. Beat Kansas, yet Kansas is in. They’re still in the top 10 and have been for weeks. Who knows?

Also, 5 straight New Year’s Day bowls isn’t anything to be ashamed of. I think WVU & Southern Cal are the only teams that can claim that mark as of now.

I messed up my initial comment…

    MountaineerBob,

I’m glad you found my site. The other day I was looking for a site like yours and didn’t stumble upon yours, but at least you found mine.

I can’t wait for the match-up between OU and WVU in what should be the most exciting BCS game (if not the only exciting BCS bowl).

We should exchange several series of question and answer sessions over the next few weeks. I think we could make the build-up more and more exciting every week.

Feel free to email me at thesoonerschooner at gmail dot com, and we can coordinate something.

    Thanks a ton,

Forget about the chips–bring out the beer.
Hello DallasSooner! It’s nice to have someone, even if that person is not a WV fan, make nice talk. This world has enough nasty people, so from another Texan, I hope somehow we all end up feeling good about this Bowl business.
