First Impressions: WVU vs. Marshall

I jumped the gun slamming the WVU/Marshall game. Marshall played a great WV style football game, my hats off to “little brother”. Their defense was impenetrable in the first half, Slaton only had 3 yards at the end of the 2nd quarter, and Marshall had the lead going into the locker room half way through the game. Not the way a #3 team preforms against a smaller, non-conference team. Maybe they will be able to make this a rivalry?

I hope we take this as a wake up call and try to figure out how to get Slaton out and running early. Our Defense needs to get their shiznitz together and our O-line needs to open things up a lot, the fact that they couldn’t get anything going against a smaller line worries me.

The Positives:

  • Noel Devine! This kid, who is a short little twerp, is fast as hell! One of the only things Pam Ward got correct during this game was that Devine was slippery. That he is. The true freshman ran for 2 TD’s and over 70 yards on just 5 runs.
  • Pat White’s Leadership. When things were looking bad he stepped up and lead this team back into the game and wore down the Marshall D. This guy is a true leader and we should be happy to see such a good positive guy running the offense. You can tell the whole team looks to him and it’s working.

It will be an interesting game on Thursday against the Terps.
