Let me just say that I’m sure Dan Carpenter is a great guy and has a great family and is a great football player (well a great kicker I should say) and I know Pat White is more than a number, but…

Pat White was drafted in the 2nd Round. Dan Carpenter wasn’t even drafted
Pat White won 4 bowl games including 2 BCS Bowls: Sugar and Fiesta. Dan Carpenter played for Montana and never played in a bowl game.
I think Dan will soon learn that the last thing he wants is hundreds of thousands of Mountaineer fans giving him shiz and making his life a living hell because of the number on his jersey.
Dan, seriously, save yourself some grief and give Pat White #5 I think he’s earned it.

Last time I checked, Dan Carpenter was a STARTER on an NFL team. Pat White hasn’t made the roster yet, and probably won’t be a starter for the Dolphins. Oh, by the way, Carpenter was an All-American, played 4 years in the playoffs, and played in a national championship game.
Oh, by the way, he and his Division I-AA team lost that national champ game…. wasn’t drafted… is a no name for anyone not in Montana or Miami…will NEVER have the fan base that Pat White has and earned. Carpenter should do the right thing and give Pat White his #5.
How many title games did White play in? He could have played in 1, but they lost to PITT!!

Do you guys even have a stadium, Griz Boy? Carpenter made rookie minimum. White will make a few million. I am sure PW will be able to buy the jersey he wants.

The Dolphins already have a player wearing number 29. I don’t recall any Montana fans whining because Carpenter couldn’t have that number.

I am a Pat White fan but there is no need to belittle another teams players from other conferences. It makes us as bad as all the other conferences that snub their noses at the BE. Carpenter was there first and if he wants to keep his number it is his right.
