With the football season only FIVE WEEKS AWAY it’s now time to show you the latest in scoreboard technology. Thanks to a partnership between the WVU Foundation and Panasonic we Mountaineer fans will be treated to these.

Milan Puskar Stadium's New Scoreboard

WVU Coliseum's New Scoreboard
These state-of-the-art $5 million plus scoreboards are being set up right now. The football scoreboard includes a new video system that is three times wider than the current south end zone system and with higher resolution LED quality. Along with that are two LED fascia boards running down each sideline will provide in-game statistics, scoring, messaging and sponsor advertising. Furthermore, a new south bowl auxiliary board also will be installed.
Once football season winds down and basketball season arrives another state-of-the art scoreboard will be shown as well. This time new Coliseum center-hung video board will feature a four-sided, LED video replay system. The four video boards will provide replays and live event coverage, in-game scoring statistics, special messaging and sponsor advertisements. Two round LED halo boards will be located above and below the new center-hung scoreboard, and two new LED auxiliary boards will be installed behind each basket. For a big-time program like WVU this is looooooooooooooooong overdue. The previous basketball scoreboard was in use starting way back in 1995. No more bricks falling on Shaggy’s head nor anymore walking time clocks leaving the room.

The Mounties New Court Design
Next season, the NCAA rules committee will move back the three-point line by one foot (from 19 foot 9 inches to 20 foot 9 inches.) This floor design accomadates that necessity with that too being looooooooooooong overdue. This is the most radical change in floor design since the Coliseum reopened in 2000 after being shut down for a year due to abestos removal.
Enjoy Mountaineer fans.

I will definitely miss the Lite Brite scoreboard at the Coliseum. There was also a great graphic they always used that was some old lady whistling or something to that effect.

Congratulations on making the big time in college sports! This is a big upgrade from the giant abacus used prior to this. Way to go WVU!

Jealous much Pitt fan? See the fun stuff you can get when you sell out your home games. I hear pitt season tickets are going for under 100 bucks! Where is your fan base… might help if you had your own stadium i guess. Can’t wait to come to the Steel town for some good ol’ fashion revenge…

I like the basketball board much better than the football board. The old football board was better. There is an incredible amount of advertising on both of them. Can’t wait to see them though.

Is it just me or does the screen on the football scoreboard look too small? very similar to the size of the one we have now? I want WIDE SCREEN HIGH DEFINITION DAMMIT! I’m sure it will be an improvement but while you’re upgrading … do it right!

The new football scoreboard will be 3x the size of the previous scoreboard (85.0′ x 23.6) not to mention it’s high resolution LED quality. The ribbon boards surely will be like the ones up in PNC Park (which is super nice). Maybe HD scoreboards will happen be down the road but as always WV is always way behind the norm.

No problem JWilson - happy to back! As for MountyBob - I will say this for the rest of my life to you and all WVU fans - 13 to 9! The memories gotta hurt! But, onward and upward to both WVU and Pitt!

I wonder if we would have beat PITT and went to the national champ game if we could have won ?? .. with the deteriorating relationship between RRod and the AD and all. So the question is, which is better. Going to the National Champ and losing or going to the Fiesta Bowl and WINNING big over Oklahoma?
