Cause we’re movin’ on up… »

A rundown of all the polls that I think matter:
BCS: #6
Harris: #5
AP: #5
USAToday: #5
Master Coaches: #7
CBSSports.com 120: #6
CollegeFootallNews 119: #5
Here is what CFN is saying about WVU:
The Ranking Should Be Higher Because … Pat White is playing like Pat White. As he showed against Louisville, when he’s on, this is the nation’s most dangerous rushing [...]

WVU Jumps Missouri to go to Fifth! »

Congratulations to WVU for jumping Missouri in both polls (wake up Herbstreit).
The top 5 both polls (remaining opponents):

LSU 9-1 (La Tech, Old Miss, Arkansas, SEC Championship)
Oregon 8-1 (Arizona, UCLA, Oregon St)
Oklahoma 9-1 (Texas Tech, Ok State)
Kansas 10-0 (Iowa State, Missouri)
West Virginia 8-1 (Cincy, UConn, Pitt)

What are WVU’s chances now of making it into the BCS [...]

JWilson’s Power Rankings Week 10 »

This week I think I have the formula perfect. The numbers are getting pretty complex, but I think it does a great job of balancing subjective rankings (from the BCS) with objective factors such as strength of schedule, wins and losses, conference strength and the new “Big Game Factor ™ “… which asks, “Can [...]

National Championship Hopes Still Alive for Mountaineers »

With no. four Arizona State and no. two Boston College both losing, West Virginia has climbed back up to no. six in both the Coaches’ and AP polls. They are 7th in the latest BCS rankings. I’ve been one of the believers that WVU can sneak back into the national championship picture, even right after [...]

CFN Still puts WVU in ‘Gnawlins »

So I just check and College Football News has WVU still in the National Champ. Game against Ohio State. I hope we get a chance to play them or any Big 10 team so we can shut them up. Here’s how they see it shaking out:
Rose Bowl presented by Citi
Jan. 1 / 4:30 p.m. Pasadena, [...]

JWilson’s Power Rankings - Week 8 »

Week 2 of my computer ratings, week 8 of the season. I still don’t have Excel installed, so it is still 100% objective. Once I get a more complex spreadsheet tool, I can make this more complex. I still think this ranking creates some serious talking points around media bias, strength of schedule, etc.

Media Bias 101 »

An email conversation by some friends of the Mountaineers….
Matt Stewy sends this article:
DAVID JONES: writer for the Harryburg Patriot Times… ya’ll favorite newspaper
Why do the ESPN analysts insist every year on using their considerable influence to cross off party-crashers such as South Florida as soon as they get a single loss? While, [...]

JWilson Power Rankings - Week 7 »

I have created a Power Ranking system that takes the following objective indicators in to account: current BCS ranking (I’m only doing the math for the top 16 teams…that is your buy in to the tournament), strength of schedule and record and attempted to piece together what a 16 team tournament may look like. Here [...]
