He has a TON of football knowledge, as long as he’s been in the business he has to have quite a bit. He’s been exposed to a shitload of different circumstances and situations, coaching everywhere from air force to the CFL. Everyone is bitchin about his losing record at VMI…I’ll say that again, VMI. Nobody has success at VMI, he only had 3 years there and for such a crappy program as they were in the early to mid 90’s I don’t care if Belicheck were there, he wouldn’t succeed in three years. Where do 99% of first time head coaches or coaches with very little head coaching experience come from?..The assistant coaching ranks. A big name is not everything, and all of these big name coaches started somewhere, it just so happens the Stu is more or less starting here. He’s been around, he know what he’s got, and he’s not gonna drive our program into the ground, he couldn’t, nobody’s that stupid. He’s just gotta be smart and get some assistants who are familliar with the spread to utilize the weapons we already have properly, get some folks on the staff who are strong recruiters that can keep bringing in the talent that makes this whole thing work, and we’ll be allright. Everybody just needs to stay calm and give him a chance. After watching last night, I have never seen us put on such a lights out performance and play up to our potential on such a big stage, we were creative and agressive, two thing which we had been missing for some time. No matter how many yards Pat White rushes for, you gotta admit we were getting pretty stagnant and predictable. Sorry to ramble, but I just wanted to try to shed a little light on this and try to get the negative folks a little different perspective to consider. And one more thing and I swear I’m through, Fuck Ken Kendrick!!! If you don’t know what I’m talkin about check out his statement on the hiring of Stu this morning. Ken, just stick with what you are good at and write the checks, let the AD do his job and you do yours.

To everyone bitchin about Coach Stu’s hiring….Check this out. Today a big time college football coach is really a CEO. These head coaches do very little coaching. They are inspirational leaders, recruiters and motivate their staff. Mack Brown is not a great Coach. What he is, is the best in the living room with Mom and Dad. He is a world class recruiter and symbol for the U of Texas. For Coach Stewart to be successful he will need a great recruiting organization that is young and can relate to our targeted recruits. He will need the very best coaches and assistants. Please remember that Bill was making $139k a year as the asst head coach. That figure is not going to get it done in attracting the best coaches. The Offensive coordinator for Alabama, Major Applewhite, makes $500k a year. This is the 21st century and we need to get our comp in line for our valued coaches. Good luck Bill ,and I pray that you can make this happen.

I hope Coach Stewart is successful. Today a big time college football coach is really a CEO. Yeah Doc may be good for WVU but what's done is done. However, the VMI fiasco that caused him to resign there is starting to gain steam. It's possible. Anything's possible.

I respect your opinion. Yeah Doc may be good for WVU but what’s done is done. I hope you are right in your match up, but I do think the outcome will be different than you think. I would have been a Gator and a Mountainer if Doc would have been going home to Morgantown

BadAndy,<br

Tebow deserves the Heisman I admit that! He earned it! I will admit that I was worried about Stew being a coach BUT that game solidified my belief that he is the man to run the program. Enjoy the ride Gator fan! We'll be here to kick ass whether y'all like it or not! Hey how bout WVU and Florida for the National Championship next year! We will be the National Champions in the near future!

Stew is responsible for this Fiesta Bowl victory sobeit if it’s on Dick Rod’s offense it’s still ours to keep as long as keep Magee. No I’m no Sooner, Florida Gator here, and yes I know we receive a beating from Michigan. Tebow has not been a pocket passer all year and they decide in the bowl to give it a try. Stewart may be a very good coach, I just do not think he can keep the program where it is in three to four years. John “Doc” Holliday would have been your best bet. You sir are talking sports out of your ass if you do not think for a second that was not Rich’s Spread Option System that had I a lot to do with the win!

Are you kidding me talking sports out my ass, look at the search for a new coach, high and low everywhere they turn coaches are telling them no, so they settled that all I’m saying. People need to realize how difficult a situation Stewart was thrust into and how well he prepared the team to deliver that blow to OU, meanwhile sending a strong message to the nation about what exactly defines Mountaineer football and also Big East football. He is a great coach with over 30 years of experience and has already proven he can win a huge bowl game no matter how difficult the preparation may have been. The team is still loaded with talent.

Yeah boy. If your coach is dedicated to the University (as is Coach Stew), then they will produce.
I do think things may be a little rougher in a couple of years when Coach Stew is using his own recruits. But, I don't see any reason why he should have a hard time getting great players to come to WVU with national TV games during the regular season, winning BE championships, and going to BCS bowls.
All of you nay sayers need to give him a chance...Coach Stew may be the best coach for us right now (with his relationship with the current players)...the future will tell all.

The game last night goes to prove something…you don’t have to make your coach a millionaire to motivate them to win.
