Another lesson from Auburn? Don’t BOO the home team!

I was disgusted Saturday by the Boo-ing of OUR team by OUR fans. There is no place in Mountaineer Football for this type of poor sportsmanship. Even if we were as bad as Syracuse I would say No Boo-ing the Home Team.. its just tacky. We as fans should respect the kids out there busting their ass so we can get some quality entertainment on any given Saturday (or Thursday, or sometime Friday). See below for times when it’s OK to Boo.

This must have been a problem at AU this year too, but their administration actually has the ballz to talk about the subject. A letter from the Dean of Student at AU. (It can easily be modified to fit what is happening at WVU):

Dear Auburn WVU Student and fans,
I wanted to remind each of you about the importance of your support for our team and displaying character this weekend when L.S.U. fans and other guests arrive this weekend. First, please join me by agreeing to demonstrate your support for, and not criticism of, our football team. That means no booing! Remember, the team isn’t trying to lose the game–the players work hard all spring and during fall camp to be ready to compete in the S.E.C. Big East. Let’s show our appreciation for their hard work by encouraging them with loads enthusiasm! Secondly, help me show the world what I get to experience everyday: that Auburn WVU men and women are special, dedicated, loyal, fun loving, bleed orange gold and blue, are compassionate, and demonstrate good will to others, even our competitors.

ESPN Game Day will be in town this weekend and we need everyone to come out and show them how much we support our team. Let’s show Chris Fowler, Kirk Hebstreit, Lee Corso and Desmond Howard true fan support and loyalty for Auburn WVU!

The nation will be watching the next two weeks (ESPN, CBS next week), and lets remember to have a great time, enjoy the weekend’s activities, watch our language and behavior, and display class, taste, and character in everything we do. I have every confidence you will.

War Eagle!! LETS GOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS

Students

So I guess my question to our readers and fans of WVU. Should boo-ing our own team be tolerated? If you agree with me that it is an abomination, then please, next time you are at a home game and someone beside you is BOO-ING OUR TEAM. Kindly ask them to shut the fuck up and tell their fairweather fan ass to give up their season tickets to real WVU Fans!

Reasons To Boo:

I don’t like boo-ing the home team but there are still plenty of reasons to boo at a WVU Game.

When any other team besides the Mountaineers are on the field.

When a guy Cheerleader drops a real Cheerleader. That’s just bullshit.

When a ref makes a bad call. (I’m surprised I’m not always boo-ing)

When you’re out of beer or liquor that you sneaked into the game.

When the team is off the field and Coach Stew is still out there getting all wet over Erin Andrews and talking about how proud he is of the team and how gosh darn happy he is he can be there for the kids when they need him.

When they take forever to play Country Roads after the game.

Any time you see Fast Eddy Pastilong.

and I’m sure there are many more… but remember NEVER BOO WHEN OUR TEAM IS ON THE FIELD. If you do, you’re a fag.
