I was disgusted Saturday by the Boo-ing of OUR team by OUR fans. There is no place in Mountaineer Football for this type of poor sportsmanship. Even if we were as bad as Syracuse I would say No Boo-ing the Home Team.. its just tacky. We as fans should respect the kids out there busting their ass so we can get some quality entertainment on any given Saturday (or Thursday, or sometime Friday). See below for times when it’s OK to Boo.
This must have been a problem at AU this year too, but their administration actually has the ballz to talk about the subject. A letter from the Dean of Student at AU. (It can easily be modified to fit what is happening at WVU):
Dear Auburn WVU Student and fans,
I wanted to remind each of you about the importance of your support for our team and displaying character this weekend when L.S.U. fans and other guests arrive this weekend. First, please join me by agreeing to demonstrate your support for, and not criticism of, our football team. That means no booing! Remember, the team isn’t trying to lose the game–the players work hard all spring and during fall camp to be ready to compete in the S.E.C. Big East. Let’s show our appreciation for their hard work by encouraging them with loads enthusiasm! Secondly, help me show the world what I get to experience everyday: that Auburn WVU men and women are special, dedicated, loyal, fun loving, bleed orange gold and blue, are compassionate, and demonstrate good will to others, even our competitors.ESPN Game Day will be in town this weekend and we need everyone to come out and show them how much we support our team. Let’s show Chris Fowler, Kirk Hebstreit, Lee Corso and Desmond Howard true fan support and loyalty for Auburn WVU!
The nation will be watching the next two weeks (ESPN, CBS next week), and lets remember to have a great time, enjoy the weekend’s activities, watch our language and behavior, and display class, taste, and character in everything we do. I have every confidence you will.
War Eagle!! LETS GOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS

Students
So I guess my question to our readers and fans of WVU. Should boo-ing our own team be tolerated? If you agree with me that it is an abomination, then please, next time you are at a home game and someone beside you is BOO-ING OUR TEAM. Kindly ask them to shut the fuck up and tell their fairweather fan ass to give up their season tickets to real WVU Fans!
Reasons To Boo:
I don’t like boo-ing the home team but there are still plenty of reasons to boo at a WVU Game.
When any other team besides the Mountaineers are on the field.
When a guy Cheerleader drops a real Cheerleader. That’s just bullshit.
When a ref makes a bad call. (I’m surprised I’m not always boo-ing)
When you’re out of beer or liquor that you sneaked into the game.
When the team is off the field and Coach Stew is still out there getting all wet over Erin Andrews and talking about how proud he is of the team and how gosh darn happy he is he can be there for the kids when they need him.
When they take forever to play Country Roads after the game.
Any time you see Fast Eddy Pastilong.
and I’m sure there are many more… but remember NEVER BOO WHEN OUR TEAM IS ON THE FIELD. If you do, you’re a fag.

Bob,
I have to agree with you 100% No reason for that kind of behavior also the lady (and I use that term loosely) wearing that awful t shirt (West F…… Virginia) should have been booed out of the stadium NOT COOL mom
your a fag bob
Duane, I would rather you take out your frustrations on me than BOO our team.
EERHOLE at BlueGoldNEws sums it up:
My coach left home out of W V
And he didn’t leave much to the U and me
Just 4 mil and an empty bottle of booze.
Now, I don’t blame him cause he run and hid
But the meanest thing that he ever did
Was after he left, they went and hired man named “Stew.”
Well, he must o’ thought that is quite a joke
And it got a lot of laughs from a’ lots of folk,
It seems I had to fight my whole life through.
Some gal would giggle and I’d get red
And some guy’d laugh and I’d bust his head,
I tell ya, life ain’t easy for a coach named “Stew.”
Well, he ain’t too quick and he ain’t too mean,
He got no fists and his wits ain’t keen,
He roams from town to town, he’s got no shame.
Eddie made a vow to the moon and stars
That he’d give a big buyout while at the bars
And kill any man who mentions the other’s name.
Well, it was Morgantown in early Jan
Pat spoke up and riled all the fans,
Eddie musta had many a brew.
At an big bowl game, his name is mud,
There at the podium standing with a stud,
And then he hired that nice man “Stew”.”
Well, I could tell that man was a real nice dad,
From a big ole hug that his little boy had,
And I knew that smile on his face and twinkle in his eye.
He was laughable, loveable and getting a little old,
Pat looked at the crowd and my blood ran cold
And Pat said: “The new coach is ‘Stew’ How do you do!
Now your gonna die!!”
Well, that hit me hard right between the eyes
He won’t go down, but to my surprise,
He’ll talk to you to death if you lend him your ear.
He says relax, we won the last few weeks
As fans are crashing through walls and into the streets
Kicking and a’ gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer.
I tell ya, We’ve had tougher men
And, I really can remember when,
Stew promised to kick like a mule and bite like a crocodile.
I heard him laugh when Rod used to cuss,
We run the shotgun and can’t get a first,
When we win against Auburn, he’ll stand there and smile.
Eddie said: “Fans, this world is rough
And if a man’s gonna make it, he’s gotta be tough
And I might not always be there to ya along.
So we gave him a big extension to this great guy
I knew you’d have to get tough or die
And it’s the name Stew that will help to make you strong.”
He said: “Now you just fought one hell of a fight
And I know you hate me, and you got the right
To fire me now, and I wouldn’t blame you if you do.
But ya ought to thank me, before I die,
For the gravel in ya guts and the spit in ya eye
Cause I’m the son-of-a-bitch that hired that man named “Stew.”
After thinking all about it, He’s a really, nice man
And I called him my coach, and he called me his fan,
And I came away with a different point of view.
And I think about him, now and then,
Every time we play I hope we win,
As long as Eddie is AD we’ll never be big time,
All a want is a championship for thine.
I like to believe they were booing the coach
I can’t imagine one of the people booing were actually booing the team. The offensvie coaching staff needs a wakeup call, yesterday! There’s absolutely no reason we shouldn’t be able to move the ball on a defense that was ranked in the bottom ten in the country. If we don’t voice our displeasure with the play calling, no one else will. The Syracuse game was a boiling point, and I’m sorry if any of the players thought that was directed at them, but it’s time to shape up or ship out for the offensive coaches. They turned one of the most dominant offenses in the country into junk, and it’s entirely their fault.
On the other hand, how bout that defense? Left out on the field all day long! They bent, but held when it mattered. Hats off to Casteel and the defense for another fine showing!
I am nearly 50 years old and I came on board as a WVU student during the dark days of the Frank Cignetti era. We never had winning seasons in those days, but we never booed our own. I have been a rabid and loyal mountaineer ever since. It was apalling to see the fans booing the team last week. They may think they were voicing displeasure at the playcalling. but the kids can’t tell the difference. Neither can any recruits who may be visiting or watching. My observation is that the booing was coming mostly from drunken 20somethings who got in recently and seem to belive that 10 win seasons are their birthright. I have news for you guys. Plays that work well in X-box don’t necessarily work out in real life. Real mountaineers do not boo their own. If you want to call out the coaches on their talk shows, have at it. But don’t boo you own. The kids give a great deal of their loves to us by being on the team. Support them!
greg your correct most of the people going to the games have forgotten the days when WVU struggled to beat anyone. oh those bygone days we thought were over. but 10 win seasons will once again be non existant and people will be happy and cheer for a first down or a 3 yard bubble screen or a draw play on third and 25 just like back in the good old days. And i also think all the players ARE aware nobody was booing them. they can read a paper or get online as easy as us .they know who everyone is mad at and probably feel the same at times. WE ALL EXPECTED MORE ITS GONNA TAKE TIME TO CHANGE OUR MINDSETS BACK TO ACCEPTING POOR PLAY
I will never accept poor playing or poor coaching. It will happen though.
F the booing. The fans have a right to express their opinion…especially when the coaching staff has their head up their ass.
The big news is that the thursday night curse is back! 6 of the last 7 thursday night games have been upsets. Now the Big East needs Utah to lose. There is still a chance that WVU will not play a ranked team and Utah will keep the Big East from a BCS game. Right now, the Big East isn’t even on the radar for a top 12 BCS ranking.
The biggest thing that I am surprised about is that how surprised everyone else is that we are 4-2. Come on, first year coach, off. coor, new offense, young players. You have to remember wvu did not beat anyone in the RR era. OU (RRs coaches) and Georgia in bowls, but it was too late then. In the regular season we lost all the hyped up games. UL was on a Thursday night, USF on a friday, all televised. We did not beat anyone if you really think about it. We did look alot better no doubt about that. but what we fail to realize is that we were never a powerhouse program, not even close. We got to number 2 because the bcs is about when you lose and alot of teams lost late in the season. WVU had a good run for three seasons, that is it. Three years were we got attention. I love wvu and always will and want them to win as bad as anyone but as fans we have to sit back and be a little patient, if things dont get better next year and our offense really struggles then we can question more aggressively.
boo the boo birds out of Morgantown. see exits immediately.
I am pretty sure that the fans were booing the coaching staff and play calling….at least I was from the bar in SC. These players are men not peewee league football players. I am pretty sure if they can’t take some fan hostility then they need to take there ass to the bench. This is football the last I checked…and these are football players. I’m not saying that our fans should boo our team…but I’m going to be honest…these are not the same kind of players we had when Nehlen was here…these are better caliber. There going to hear much more if they do not start performing…that’s players, coaching staff, administration, everyone. That’s football —- and how it is.
